How Does it Feels To Read Lorna Capunan’s Résumé

Rommel F. Bonus

These few weeks I’m busy attending symposiums local and even nationwide. November 21, 2015, I’m not only a participant but actually being one of the secretariats (luckily) on a nationwide seminar held in the near Juan Sumulong Elementary School Antipolo. I was shocked to meet Atty. Lorna Capunan, whose mainstream interview in Gandang Gabi Vice hits legions of eyes and mouths on social medias and television, putting more sugarcoats on the matapang and palaban image of a civil and political lawyer whose clients were the (estimate 2010) most controversial Heiden Co of the infamous Co-Halili sex scandal, the “queen” of the ten billion pork barrel scam – Janet Lim Napoles, and if not mistaken President Gloria Arroyo herself.  I honestly claim that I was much wondered when I received the news on television that she won the case of Co during the heights of the controversy, and this: she surrendered (the term Capunan used was “surrendered” not the expected “persuaded”) Janet Lim Napoles in the Malacaṅang Palace one evening on the midst of book-tick cases against the queen when she discovered that Napoles is not telling the truth. The lawyer is one of our speakers.

Capunan is not only a political animal (as Aristotle describes us), but in my own observation, a selfie animal; she make selfies using her large smart phone during the speech of other speakers. Umuuso ang lola!

The funny thing is that when she arrived at 8:00 am, she looked for a comfort room to pee. One of the secretariats assisted Capunan to the most available comfort room. The more funny thing is that an hour before, we were problematic to find enough water to fill buckets and buckets for such accommodation. And after the lawyer used the comfort room, Mr. Paluyo – one of the organizers of the said event whispered to me “naku mukhang nakasimangot si Attorney”.

I actually took the chance to see her curriculum vitae or what the British people calls résumé that was handed by her, and so much surprised to find out that she has ten pages résumé, five of it is occupied by her major conventions here and abroad by which the nature of participation are mainly speakership. If I am an employer and she wanted to work in my company, I would think that she is more competent and qualified than the CEO of that company of what-ever it is.
